Hydro Flask presents - Matt Segal
Before I started shooting full time I had a stint of about 10 years where I worked as a professional mountain guide. Spring was spent up in Alaska on Denali, summer in the High Sierra of California and winter in Antarctica (for the Austral Summer). It was an amazing lifestyle and perfectly suited for the adventurous wanderlust of my 20's. I miss parts of it for sure, but still spend a lot of time exploring the outdoors, now with my kids.
This stills and motion project with Hydro Flask took me back to my roots as we spent a day shadowing professional rock climber and adventure athlete Matt Segal. Matt has an amazing story of risk and reward and persevering against the harshest of odds. In June of 2017 he had a catastrophic paragliding accident on the top of a 12,000 foot peak in the Sierra Nevada that left him literally fighting for his life in a very harsh environment. Less than a year later he is back to climbing at the highest standard and a monument to mind over matter. Here are some of the stills and the video to follow.
